Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny says that he has little complaints about the 2-0 defeat against Chelsea during the weekend because the West London team were simply brilliant in all aspects. The Polish international started in goal ahead of David Ospina. This was one of his better performances against a top opposition, but even that was not enough to prevent a defeat. This defeat pushed the club out of the top four places, which they only managed to reach last week. Eden Hazard scored from the penalty spot in the first half before the Premier League’s top scorer Diego Costa grabbed a late one.

Arsenal have been very poor getting results in the league this season. Yet, they found themselves just one point behind Manchester City, who are viewed as title contenders. After this defeat, though, they have fallen nine points behind leaders Chelsea and this magnitude of advantage has always proven difficult to close even with more than 30 matches remaining in the season. Arsenal complained that they do not get the decisions from the referee in their manner. Szczesny, though, has little complaints because he said that Chelsea were in control throughout the match. This was also a sentiment echoed by the midfielder Jack Wilshere.

“I thought it was a very even game but Chelsea have an ability to keep clean sheets at home and I thought they were very good, they took their chances with two brilliant moments. One, the brilliant run from [Eden] Hazard that led to the penalty. On the second goal, the ball from Cesc [Fabregas] and the finish. Sometimes you’ve got to take your hat off to the brilliance of the opposition. We’ve had a tough run so far. But I’d like to think that our start has been solid, not as good as we expected from ourselves,” said Szczesny.
