Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy refused the move to join Premier League giant Arsenal despite the club meeting his transfer clause and offering way more weekly wage if he agreed to the move.

According to those close to the England international, the player was not very convinced if the style of football at the Emirates will suit his game.

The player, who joined Leicester from Fleetwood town for £1m four years back, signed a deal that will keep him for another four years at the club. His recent deal, which many wanted him to have delayed till the end of the season, was agreed that he would receive weekly wages of £70,000 but the new deal means the player will be earning close to £100,000 weekly.

Sky Sources also claim add that the reason was because Arsenal preferred the possession-hungry style of football unlike the counter-attacking style of Claudio Ranieri’s side that he was used to and he loved. Those close to him say he deeply believes the team has something to offer in the UEFA Champions League in the coming season. They would also defend their Premier League title aside other local tournaments. He also allegedly feels leaving the club, even as other stars are not yet sure of their future at the club, will cause a dip in performance.

The player was also not guaranteed that he would not be played out of his main position if he joined the Gunners. He met with his agent after the England draw with Slovakia in France to make his decision known. The player also likely remained at the Kings Power Stadium out of loyalty to the club. He also hopes his decision will sway Riyad Mahrez and N’Golo Kante to remain at the club despite lots of interests in them.
