Santi Cazorla seems to be all set to leave Arsenal. He is being rumoured to be willing to return to his motherland Spain. Atletico Madrid is the club which he might sign for.
Cazorla had gone to the Emirates Stadium a couple of years back and his stint there so far has been pretty good. He has been scoring goals and setting them up as well, but, he has found it a little hard to get adapted to the lifestyle in England and that’s why, he wants to head back to Spain.
Atletico Madrid which had won the league title in Spain last season is looking for a quality attacking player after losing Diego Costa. They are not lacking transfer funds and they would try their best to lure Cazorla to Vicente Calderon Stadium.
Atletico has already made a signing this summer in the form of Antoine Griezmann of France.
Yesterday, in one of his interviews, Cazorla had said that he admired the way Atletico played in the La Liga in the previous season and that Arsenal should also try to do the same in the Premier League.
This statement of the midfielder has fuelled the rumours of him close to signing of Atletico.
Talking to the correspondent of a daily in that interview, Cazorla said, “To finish the league at the top of the table leaving teams like Barca behind, it’s not a joke. It’s really admirable. Atletico deserves plaudits for what they did.”
Losing Cazorla is not going to be that big a blow for Arsenal as they have already strengthened their offensive line this summer bringing in the likes David Ospina and Alexis Sanchez.
Cazorla has found the back of the net 16 times for Arsenal in 69 league appearances till date.
