Chelsea midfielder Nemanja Matic has revealed that he is unhappy with Chelsea’s decision to sell Petr Cech to one of their important rivals in the form of Arsenal.
The 33-year-old was recently sold to Arsenal for around £ 11 million. It had become clear thatCech was not going to have a future at Chelsea due to the emergence of Thibaut Courtois as a real alternative for his position. The fact that the Belgian is only 22 years old makes it extremely difficult for a manager to drop him in favour of inexperienced professional.
Once Chelsea decided to letCech leave, the experienced star made the decision to stay in London. It was easy for him to make the decision become true after Arsenal entered into the race to sign him immediately after the end of last season. Even though PSG were interested in him, Cech’s keenness on staying in London made the transfer to North London possible. Matic, though, is already aware that Cech could improve Arsenal immensely and this could come and haunt Chelsea in the upcoming title race. Matic may have played with Cech for only a few years, but he is well aware of the quality within the 33-year-old.
“Petr is a great guy and a great keeper. It is going to be a very important signing for them. But I am not happy because of that. We know that he is very professional. He is one of the best keepers. And I hope this season he does not perform as he did here for 10-11 years.I am happy for him because he gets to stay in London, which for him and his family was very important. I wish him all the best,” said Matic. Cech had been the number-one at Chelsea for 11 years.
